Civil Engineering
The civil engineering department was established in 1962 as one of the top diploma program in the state
The civil engineering is considered the most versatile amongst all engineering branch. Civil engineering can be considered as the single largest core engineering branch. As a civil engineer students learn how to help development of infrastructure like industry, buildings bridges transportation system. It includes planning design construction and operations of structures.
The Department offer the three year diploma program in the area of in civil engineering.
The department has three faculty including HOD. The civil engineering department has sanctioned intake with AICTE approval of sixty (60) students. Department has trained more than two thousand (2000) students in civil engineering who serving the nation with different fields in public, private organizations and also serve in different departments of government of india.
In the course of three year civil engineering students will study following subjects in theory with practicals.
Building materials & construction, Building drawing, Hydraulics, Surveying Advanced survey, Mechanics of structure, Soil mechanics, Transportation engineering, Irrigation engineering, Design of RCC Structures(RCC), Quantity surveying and costing, concrete technology, Design of steel Structures(STEEL), Public health engineering, Construction planning and management.
Activities for students- site visits on construction sites, lab work, and educational trips
Department laboratories
Surveying lab- students can performs survey practical like auto level , theodolite survey, chain or tap survey , compass survey etc.
Material lab- in material lab equipped with compression testing machine, vicat apparatus, slump cone test apparatus, universal testing machine, and other apparatus for test on cement, curse and fine aggregates, bitumen bricks material students can learn about different material properties.
Soil mechanics lab- in soil mechanics lab has all equipments for soil testing. which helps the students to gain knowledge for different soil properties.
Hydraulics lab- in the hydraulics lab has all equipments for testing for different hydraulic properties of water. which helps the students to know about different hydraulic properties of water.
Applied mechanics lab- this lab has machines which help the students in visualizing basic forces & mechanisms involved in engineering design.
This lab imparts training on analyzing following engineering elements:
Moment of forces
Reaction of forces
Equilibrium of forces
Mechanical advantages & efficiency
Moment of inertia and friction.
PHE LAB- this lab has equipped for testing of drinking water and waste water. which helps students to know about how to treat drinking and waste water and safe disposal of waste water.
AutoCAD lab- the AutoCAD lab equipped with internet facility introduces to the modern methods of drawing and drafting different civil engineering structures with the help of software AutoCAD.
